I do not claim to be the smartest person alive, nor the greatest writer of them all. But over the course of forty-eight years on this planet, I have seeing history being made; I have being part of history being made. And above all, I call myself an American. I have fought for our freedoms and for your freedom to express your opinions. And I have risked my life to ensure those freedoms.
What scares the heck out of me, is not the enemy in the battlefield shooting at us. We can shoot back. What scares me is that the people that has just as much responsibility as I do, I am a Soldier and I fight for our freedoms, I am talking about the journalists that are charged with informing our Nation the objective truth of day to day life, politics, science, justice, history, etc. they seem to not being able to differentiate between what they are to report, and their own opinion.
Hey, if you as a reporter want to give us your analysis and or opinion, by all means do so. But tell me what it is. Tell me it is your opinion. I would respect you more if you did. I want you to have an opinion and I want you to exercise your freedoms. That is why I have risked my life for many times over. But please, either keep your opinions to yourself, or have the moral courage to actually state or disclosed that what you are saying is your opinion.
It does not matter whether you like President Bush or not. Who really cares. He is not in the ballot for a next term. Think about it.
O’Reilly said it best today, speaking about the media. If Donald Duck would run for the Democrat Party for President, and the smartest individual in the planet run against him as a Republican, you’d support Donald no questions asked. Is that really rational? Politics should not be about emotions. I am not going to like every candidate on any ballot. It is human nature. But, if the best candidate for the Nation is running, it is my duty to put my feelings aside and think rationally. Vote with my head. Just because you like President Bush,; or not, does not mean that you have to trash the man. If catastrophe strikes tomorrow and we have to defend ourselves again, guess what? President Bush would still be our Commander in Chief, and we still do what is best for the Nation.
I try my best to be professional everyday. Journalists, when you can not let go of your feelings and BE PROFFESIONAL, How can you call yourself a journalist?
Be a man or a woman, do your job and do it with pride. But do it with INTEGRITY.
