Common sense is not so common anymore!

As usual, I have to scratch my head and ask the question that I already have the answer for: Why?

We have a massive problem in the United States, millions of Americans know it, and we try to tell the politicians, some get it, most do not, and millions more do not really comprehend the enormity and danger of the situation.

I’m talking about illegal immigration.

If you take a basic course in Economics, you will be taught within the first week that the economic problem is that we are all competing for scarce resources. I can go on and on quoting statistics that prove the fact that illegal immigration is a drain to our ailing economy. And yet, some guided by emotion will point out the contribution of immigrants to our Nation. The bottom line is that this contribution made is smaller than the expense or drain to our economy. Illegal immigrants send millions of dollars to Mexico daily. Think about it, if we put those millions of dollars back into the American economy, we can revitalize it.

Lets assume just for arguments sake that 99% of all illegal immigrants are honest to God hard working people that will never violated any other law than the immigration laws that they just broke. The Christian Science Monitor quotes statistics that puts the number of illegal immigrants per year at about 500,000. One percent of half a million is five thousand. In the year 2000, the U. S. Census Bureau estimated that we had about 8.7 million illegals in this country (http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0516/p01s02-ussc.html. 12 February 2007. One percent of 8.7 millions is 87,000. So we have close to 100,000 criminals in our society that are illegal immigrants, and this is just an oversimplification of the problem, because we know for a fact that in the middle of all the honest illegal immigrants, thousands of drug and human traffickers sneak in.

Our government fights drug trafficking at every turn, but we have our back door wide open and tell all drug traffickers to come on in, that they are welcome. Does that make any sense to you?

Now lets play another game. Lets say that you are a terrorist determined to kill all infidels in “the great Satan” (in case you did not know, that is how extremist Muslims and AlQaeda call the United States). How would you get to the United States to cause havoc and kill infidels? Bingo… since Homeland Security is doing a better job (hopefully) checking people that apply for visas to visit our Nation, the easiest way is to sneak into the United States through either the Canadian or Mexican border.

Does the United States have the right to recognize their sovereignty and enforce their laws? My question is very simple: If Mexico is toughening up their immigration laws, and trying to stop the influx of illegals from Central America; then, why shouldn’t we
(http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/28/world/americas/28mexico.html>.12 February 2008)?

One of my main concerns lately is politicians that openly defend illegal behavior and assume positions in which they portrait American Law Enforcement Agencies as the bad guys. Just look at Senator Clinton’s position on drivers licenses for illegal aliens: “But without a federal policy in effect, people will come forward and they could get picked up by I.C.E. tomorrow ( 12 February 2008). When our politicians portrait our public servants as enemies, I have to wonder what Constitution they want to defend, because as President of the United States, you swear to uphold and defend our Constitution and our Laws. Being against the Police, our Military, our Immigration and Naturalization, or our Constitution IS NOT AN OPTION.

When you run for President of our Nation, you better respect our Nation, otherwise, go run for president of Cuba, North Korea, or China for that matter.
We have the laws in the books. Lets enforce them.
